Who’s Moving Where In Wealth Management? Vontobel, Falcon Private Bank, Others

Vontobel
Vontobel, the Swiss firm, has appointed Carl Vermassen to join its emerging markets fixed income team as a portfolio manager.

Vermassen brings over 25 years of industry experience. He joins Vontobel Asset Management from Degroof Petercam Asset Management in Brussels, where he was portfolio manager of the 5-star Morningstar rated Emerging Market Sustainable Bonds fund, a fund he managed together with Thierry Larose. Larose, who launched the first emerging market bond fund with ESG criteria in 2013, joined Vontobel in 2018. 

Falcon Private Bank
Switzerland-based Falcon Private Bank this week confirmed to this publication that it has recruited Placido Albanese to join its Zurich office as the new head of advisory services. Albanese previously worked at Banque Cramer.

The bank, owned by Abu Dhabi, has been through a difficult period, having been hit by the massive corruption scandal linked to Malaysia-based 1MDB. Along with fellow Swiss bank BSI , in 2016 Falcon lost its banking licence in Singapore as a result of significant failings over money laundering controls.

Artemis
Artemis Investment Management has appointed Antonia Stirling as co-head of stewardship, a role that involves putting environmental, social and governance ideas to work.

She reports to Peter Saacke, Artemis’ chief investment officer. She previously worked at Standard Life Aberdeen, where from 2010 she was head of corporate stewardship. Before that, Stirling spent five years at Deloitte, where she became ACA qualified. She holds an MA in human sciences from the University of Oxford.
